Australis Hula and Hustle Lipsticks – Shades for A Summery Lip
In celebration of summer, Australis released two limited edition lipstick shades – Hula and Hustle – as part of their Colour Inject Lipstick range. I was lucky enough to be sent a trial package of these gorgeous lipsticks and I can’t enthuse about the formula enough. Creamy and smooth, absolutely gorgeous formula.
When I first took them out of their package, I was excited as the colours were shades I’d normally go for and certainly the perfect shade to use to work and on a day to day basis. Texture-wise, they’re both creamy and go on smoothly and beautifully on lips. What I also love about them is how moisturising they are on lips. Now on to the shades.
More often than not, I am a nude lippie girl. However, off late, I find myself steering more towards brights for some reason. Maybe it’s the slight paleness to my overall skin tone appearance due to ill health lately that’s affecting my judgment. I’ve digressed. The reason why I’ve mentioned that is that Hustle, a peachy toned nude lippie shade is usually the kind of shade I’d go for. Unfortunately, whilst I loved the texture of the Colour Inject lipstick range, Hustle, which goes on quite sheer, failed to complement my skin tone and made my lips look pale and made my overall complexion look quite ashen and dull. That said, when I first looked at it, I really loved the look of the shade and was honestly quite disappointed that it didn’t work for me.
Hula meanwhile is a gorgeous slightly pink toned soft apricot shade lipstick, a colour which goes on slightly more pigmented than Hustle. Now Hula’s one gorgeous shade when looked at in it’s packaging, when swatched on my hand as well as when applied on my lips. The pink tinged soft apricot shade complimented my medium skin tone perfectly, giving my lips that moist and healthy natural look, which I absolutely adore. Absolutely ecstatic that at least one of the two shades worked for my skin tone.
Overall, I certainly loved my first trial of Australis’ Colour Inject lipstick range and am certainly gonna go pick up some more shades to trial for myself. From what I can see from the reviews I’ve read so far, Australis offers a beautiful range of lipstick shades and with such a creamy and moisturising forula and a price of $12.95 a pop, who could go wrong?
I believe both shades are quite complimentary across most skin tones and though Hustle didn’t quite work for me, I honestly think it is a beautiful shade that can probably work beautifully on fairer skin tones.
