Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate – A Sleek Duet that Illuminates and Highlights Brilliantly
- One of the most anticipated cosmetics launch this year has hit Australia and let me tell you, I’ve visited the counter at David Jones and it’s the epitome of sophistication, glamour, opulence, elegance and of course you won’t label it Tom Ford Beauty Collection unless it oozes sensuality.
- For Tom Ford, makeup and skincare are powerful tools of transformation. “The ultimate goal of these products is to enable any woman, no matter her age or features, to create a complete look in which her individual beauty is amplified and she appears to radiate from within”.
- Tom Ford’s Beauty Collection embodies the ideal beauty collection for the woman who is unabashedly glamorous, who is confident in fully expressing herself and achieving this with minimum effort and maximum effectiveness.
- Naturally, Tom Ford’s Beauty Collection features a selection that’s signature Tom Ford – gorgeous eye colours, bold and glamorous lip shades and bright, radiant cheeks amongst others.
- Whilst a few items have caught my fancy when I went to check out the brand new Tom Ford counter the other day and I am determined to acquire it all a step at a time even if it kills my bank account, today I am lucky enough to be able to bring you a review of “Shade and Illuminate” – a duet featuring a highlighting and shading cream designed to sculpt and contour face effortlessly.
- The texture is creamy and they go on sheer, giving skin just that hint of definition and contour required to lift and brighten the face.
- This white and chocolate brown duo is encased in an opulent and decadent oak brown packaging with gold lining that’s embossed with the label “Tom Ford”. Undoubtedly a beautiful packaging no one would be shy to whip out anywhere.
- The white shade is used to draw light onto skin to brighten and lift the face. It gives a pearlescent sheen and works wonderfully to highlight high areas of the face like nose bridge, forehead, cheek bones, brow bones etc to give “lift”.
- The chocolate brown shade is used to define and contour bones. Don’t worry, it looks scary dark in the pan (I thought so too) but goes on invisible. I use this around my cheekbones to sculpt and define it further and I love the effect achieved thereafter.
- Before you cough at it’s hefty price tag of AU$100, keep in mind the pan is humongous and this palette will last ages. It is a luxe item that is marked in the same market entry point as other luxe brands we all love and treasure such as Chanel, Dior, Guerlain. Pay for quality, I’d say. It is after all, a little slice of the glamorous and sophisticated world of Tom Ford and I’d gladly part with my dollars for an awesome quality product such as this.
- If you haven’t already checked out the collection, I urge you to. I couldn’t tear myself away from the counter. It was just that gorgeous. I certainly have my eye on the eye quads, blush and of course, the sumptuous lip colours.
This product was provided for consideration.
Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate retails for AU$100.

I have this too, but haven’t even touched it yet. Am I the only one who doesn’t know how to use it?

I was clueless when I saw it at first too then I just sort of tried different ways of using it, first with my fingers then with a buffing brush and then with a tapered brush. I sort of like the effect achieved when I use my fingers better than when I use a brush, especially to highlight the eye area and also for the cheek bones. But I guess for better definition when sculpting and contouring, a brush would help. I sort of use a tapered brush for this, sometimes I sort of buff it in as well
