Illamasqua Blush – Hussy
I was entranced when I attended the Illamasqua launch party last year with all the pretty, yummy looking pigments that they have. Absolutely captivated! It’s like being a four-year-old again lost in a candy store. When Illamasqua’s MUA tried this on me, I knew I had to have it! I dug up my purse and forayed into the fascinating world of exploring the alter ego of Illamasqua. I purchased this gorgeous blush, Hussy, along with a foundation powder (soon to be reviewed).
- Hussy is a matte blush and the colour is a bright pinkish coral. Illamasqua describes it as bright candy pink, but whilst it looks that way in the pan, it definitely does have that coral-ish hint in reality. At least to me.
- Do not be frightened off that bright shocking pink (though it looks like a muted pink in the picture, in reality, it’s brighter than that) that you see in the pan. It actually gives off the most gorgeous colour and looks pretty natural too, when applied right. Since trying on NARS Exhibit A, I must admit I am no longer frightened by strong pigments. I’ve learnt that even the strongest of pigments can be subtly applied for a toned down effect.
- Like most of Illamasqua’s makeup, the colour is intensely pigmented, however, it is gorgeous and an incredibly flattering colour. Smooth and easy to blend as well.
- I use a light hand when applying this blush and mainly use a stippling brush for a subtle hint of colour on my cheeks.
- The colour wears well and despite the shade seeming like a cooler-toned colour, it actually wears wonderfully on my warm skin tone.
- It also lasts a whole entire day without any need nor reason to touch up.
- I’ve always been impressed with NARS blushes for their strong pigments, I must say, I’m loving Illamasqua as a new favourite for the same reason.
- The colour is definitely buildable, so if you’re after a much more heavier application of blush on your cheeks, you can definitely put on more. Since there is no shimmer, you won’t be risking sparkling like a disco ball.
- I’d say that I’m incredibly impressed with my first foray into Illamasqua’s makeup and Hussy will definitely not be my last Illamasqua blush.
Have you tried on Hussy or any other Illamasqua blushes before? What are your thoughts on them?

Ooh I want. How much is one?
They’re $40+. $44 I think. You should get it, it’ll be gorgeous on you!
I wanted so badly to try something from Illamasqua when I was in London since we don’t get it here for now. Went to the counter at Selfridges and was roundly ignored as I swatched the lipsticks and blushes at the counter. 3 SA at the counter and they would rather work on the makeup for 1 customer while I stood there for at least 10 minutes intending to pick up something if I’d just be served. At no point was I even recognized as a potential customer. They just looked at me and looked away. My friend told me to leave because they were pissed at the attitude and I did. Since then I’ve had this bad taste in my mouth every time I see the brand. Pity really, it looks interesting
Pity they didn’t took care of you, they lost themselves a good customer. I’d be pissed off as well going through such an experience. Sounds like the terrible experience I always have with MAC MUA/SAs. Sigh…when will these people ever learn?
The SA/MUAs at Illamasqua Melbourne seems okay thus far. I’ve not had a bad experience yet. If you really want it badly, I could get it for you from here if you want
